The Hungarian government established a scholarship program called the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program in 2013 to offer opportunities for international students to complete their higher education studies in Hungary. The program’s primary goal is to expand the number of international students studying in Hungary and encourage Hungarian higher education institutions to recruit outstanding international students from other countries. Management of the scholarship program is entrusted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with coordination provided by the Tempus Public Foundation (Tempus). Several bilateral educational cooperation agreements have been made between the Ministries responsible for education in the sending countries/territories and Hungary, which form the program’s foundation.
Required Documents

• A certificate of education (high school diploma, university or college diploma/certificate, or any equivalent; all in English) is required (translated).
• Identification as a citizen (e.g., Passport).
• A concise curriculum vitae (CV).
• A medical certificate is required.
• Applicants to the University’s Medicine program who are citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States of America must submit their results from the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) to the university.
HOW TO APPLY
• It is MANDATORY for applicants to submit only online applications via the Hungarian government’s website and through the HEC website. Failure to submit online application forms on BOTH of the websites listed in Steps (1) and (2) will result in your application not being considered for further processing.
• At this time, hard copies of applications and other papers are not needed to be submitted. However, applicants are obliged to retain a record of all of the documents they provide and printed copies of BOTH application forms for auditing (submitted online at HEC & Tempus Public Foundation).
• Applicants will be required to provide physical copies (including online application forms submitted via the HEC portal with a deposit slip and the Tempus Public Foundation portal) as well as certified photocopies of all original documents at a later stage of the selection process. It is also necessary to produce an original medical certificate and a police clearance certificate.
